During 2022, we had numerous requests to take out folks that are bound to a wheelchair. Unfortunately, none of our volunteer boat captains have a boat that would accommodate a wheelchair. This presented a problem.
We realized we could not meet our vision: "Being there for those in need. Giving Back to those that gave, all through the power of fishing." The problem was we could not give back to those that gave.
In July 2022, we were blessed when Ms. Cindy Hyman Kloeti picked us to donate a 1995 Hurricane Deck boat to convert to a wheelchair-accessible boat. Unfortunately, in Oct 2022, as we were planning out the renovation, we realized the deck boat was not going to work, specifically the safety and ADA compliance portion.
It's by the Grace of God, we were able to utilize the deck boat to acquire a 26-foot tritoon boat, that would meet our needs. So the renovation project began to move forward.
God willing, our goal is to launch the new boat in January 2023. follow this page to track our progress.
As we go through the renovation, we had to remove and relocate some seats.
A team of volunteers got together to identify what needed to be done to make our wheel-chair boat safe and American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant.
